I photographed James Beard Award winning Chef, Frank Stitt for Men’s Journal.
Ruben Studdard is getting in shape! He’s come a long way and is continuing to improve his health and his running. He has created The Ruben Studdard Marathon in Birmingham AL that will benefit his foundation. I photographed him for the November Runner’s World Edition.
I got the privilege to finally shoot for Glamour Magazine. I had been told how great the staff at the magazine was, and was so excited to finally experience it. Big thanks to Brian Marcus for the assignment. I hope to do more!
Tally Deushane was chosen as one of Glamour Magazine’s top 10 College Women of 2011. She became internet famous with her ukelele songs, and adaptations of pop culture.
Each month Shape Magazine does a regular column about women who do interesting things to stay in shape. Heather Harpole goes dancing at latin clubs celebrating her latin heritage.
My friend Maggie Soladay at American Lawyer Magazine, recommended me for this shoot. It was for Law Technology News, Jamie Moncus, a young lawyer using an iPad as an integral part of presenting evidence in litigation.
Shooting things so far in advance makes it hard to NOT talk about! I am always anxious to talk about what I am doing, but so many times the work requires me to sit on it for a while. Back in January I had one of the coolest assignments so far in my career. I traveled to NYC to photograph chef Todd English for his upcoming cookbook that will be published by Oxmoor House. My assignment was to shoot Todd cooking, for the chapter openers in the book. The book is scheduled to be release next month. While I was there Todd was nice enough to allow me to make a portrait of him, just for my portfolio. Shooting for yourself is a must in addition to what the client asks for. And it is a great collaboration when your subject has the time, and allows you to do that. We spent 3 days together, and I just shot him cooking, doing what he loves to do. It was an amazing experience. I definitely felt the allure of the city! This is the portrait I made during a break one day. More to come when the book is published!
My friend Don Van Cleave called me back in February and asked if I wanted to do a shoot together. Don is in artist management, but also a fantastic photographer. Of course I said yes. Then he told me it was with The Civil Wars, who had been in my studio before. We have some mutual friends, I love their music, and I was stoked! We had a few minutes with them before one of their sold out shows in Birmingham. This was my favorite portrait.
I was privileged to photograph Helio Castroneves, Indy race champion and winner of Dancing with the Stars for Runner’s World. He is an avid runner. He is one of the most genuinely fun people to be around, his enthusiasm was infectious.
A cool website that features cool people and their cars. They used one of my portraits of Billy Reid and his jeep.
